Register to Vote!
How to register as a member of the Green Party:
To vote
in an election whether it's for school board, city council, governor,
or president you must first register.
Voter registration forms are located at U.S. post offices, the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), and other government offices. You may register to vote if you meet the following requirements:
- You are a United States citizen
- You are a resident of California
- You are at least 18 years of age (or will be by the date of the next election)
- You are not in prison or on parole for conviction of a felon
- You have not been judged by a court to be mentally incompetent to register and vote
Why Register Green?
Registering as a Green makes a clear and effective political statement.
The more people who register Green, the more other parties and the media will
take green issues and green voters seriously. And registering Green does not
limit your voting options. In a general election, you can vote for any candidate
in any party, regardless of which party you belong to. Since you can vote
for any candidate, you should register with a party that represents your values
instead of merely being the lesser of two evils. More than 100,000 Californians are
registered to vote as Green Party members. Why not join them?
How to request an absentee ballot:
If you think you'll be away on election day or just be too busy to vote, request
an absentee ballot and vote by mail! You can mail it in at any time before
the election, or even change your mind and still vote at a polling place.
You don't need a special form to request an absentee ballot. Just write the following information on a piece of paper:
- Your name
- Date of election for which you are applying
- The address where you are registered
- The address where you want the ballot mailed
- Your phone number
- Your signature
